Pretty much the same run as on the 1st. I was slow, sore and winded. I even walked in the same places. Hockey tomorrow if the rink gets their compressor fixed. If not, I will run another 3 tomorrow.

I had hoped to get a longer run in than this today, but didn’t have the time. Weather was cool with a light drizzle, which actually makes for pretty nice conditions, and I think my pace reflected that.
This was probably the hilliest run I’ve had so far, very few flat spots. I think my legs and I are finally getting used to running on hillier routes, I’m getting better about powering through hills and/or lowering my pace on short steep spikes and longer drawn-out inclines. My legs do take the brunt of the work though, and at times I’m wondering if I should do some more speed work, as they don’t seem to hold up as well as my lungs on these sorts of runs.
Just a quick Friday run to make sure I “did something.” Nice day, I was back in short sleeves finally.
Well it was very cold today so I ran on the track for 30 minutes. Nothing special.

So I missed posting my last run this week so figured I’d better get back to it. Today I went out and took a different route, not knowing exactly how far it would be or what it would be like. It ended up being a 4-mile, really hilly run.
Despite not being used to hills I’m really liking the workout they give my legs. This run felt great overall, although it could have been a bit warmer. Hoping to start getting some longer runs in on the weekends, gunning for a 6+ miler either Saturday or Sunday.

Take an old fat guy that runs sometimes, then have him sit around with pneumonia for about a week over the holidays (meaning FOOD), then have him run outside on the 1st day of the year, when it is pretty cold (okay, cold for Tennessee) and you have a recipe for a really slow run, with some walking thrown in for good measure.
I actually felt good, but my legs were stiff and did not want to move. Back to work tomorrow and the treadmill at lunch. I still feel confident for the half in April. I should be up to running it without issue, now if I can get Mike and Matt to commit. (I can run with Mike, I will just have to meet Matt at the finish line about 45 minutes after he finishes!)
