010109 – A Sloooow Start for the New Year

January 1st, 2009 Ted No comments

Stats

  • Distance: 3.0 miles
  • Pace: 12:15/mile
  • Location: Franklin, TN
  • Surface: Asphalt
  • Weather: 24 Degrees and Sunny
  • Music: Audio Book

Take an old fat guy that runs sometimes, then have him sit around with pneumonia for about a week over the holidays (meaning FOOD), then have him run outside on the 1st day of the year, when it is pretty cold (okay, cold for Tennessee) and you have a recipe for a really slow run, with some walking thrown in for good measure.

I actually felt good, but my legs were stiff and did not want to move. Back to work tomorrow and the treadmill at lunch. I still feel confident for the half in April. I should be up to running it without issue, now if I can get Mike and Matt to commit. (I can run with Mike, I will just have to meet Matt at the finish line about 45 minutes after he finishes!)

122408 – A Christmas Eve running

December 24th, 2008 Ted No comments

Stats

  • Distance: 3.2 miles
  • Pace: 11:15/mile
  • Location: Nashville, TN
  • Surface: Treadmill
  • Weather: Indoors!
  • Music: Nightmare Before Xmas (ick!)

I left work and headed out to the club for my noon run. I was looking forward to the movie they would be showing in the “cardio cinema”; perhaps A Christmas Story or The Santa Clause? No, it was “A Nightmare Before Christmas”, what?!?! First of all, this is a truly horrible movie and it is not one to run 3 miles watching!

Despite the crap movie, I ran pretty well, I started @ 5MPH moving all the way up to 6.5MPH. I am still slow, but I am picking up a little bit of speed every day.

Tomorrows goal: I plan on running Christmas Day (outside).

122308 – Back to the Treadmill

December 23rd, 2008 Ted No comments

Stats

  • Distance: 3 miles
  • Pace: 11:30/mile
  • Location: Nashville, TN
  • Surface: Treadmill
  • Weather: Indoors!
  • Music: Knocked Up (movie)

I just totally ripped off Matt’s formatting! (I liked it). So, after a rest day Monday, I was back on the treadmill today. Matt’s blazing fast run yesterday reminded me of how stinking slow I am! My plan is to ratchet up my speed by .2-.3MPH per with an ultimate goal of running 6 Miles @6MPH by April. My legs felt good today and I could have run a lot farther. I ran 20@5.0MPH; 8@5.2, 2@5.5-6.5. I plan on running indoors tomorrow, then outside until the end of the year. Hockey is done until the 4th, so I should be able to get in 6 runs per week!

121808 – Sick and running

December 18th, 2008 Ted No comments

Yesterday was not a good day, I did not feel well and I was tired in the morning. I decided to run right after a noon-2pm meeting I had, unfortunately, the meeting ran long and I was unable to run. I also have had a chronic cough for the last 6 weeks, so after I ran today, I went to the doctor. I am the lucky owner of pneumonia! (Oh, happy day). My doctor prescribed some heavy antibiotics and told me he was okay with me continuing to run, so I am going to. I am still waiting for SLACKER Mike to post another run!

Time: 11:45am
Weather: Indoors!
Pace: 4.9MPH
Duration: 35 Minutes
Shoes: 120908 Adistar Control 4 (15 miles)
Tomorrows Goal: Run 30 minutes on the treadmill at lunch.

Shoes: 120908 Adistar Control 4 (9 miles)

121008 – Still Running

December 10th, 2008 Ted No comments

I slept in this morning and I was afraid I would not be able to run at lunch.  Luckily, we took an hour long break and I was able to go the club and run for 2-30-2 on the treadmill.  The new shoes feel good and my shins do not ache today.  I ran about the same as yesterday, maybe a bit faster, I plan on running Thursday and Saturday of this week.  So far so good!
